The Disciple’s Path

THE DISCIPLE'S PATH

As disciples, we are devoted followers of Jesus Christ, committed to practices that help us grow closer to God. Discipleship is the process of being shaped by the Holy Spirit through spiritual disciplines to become more like Jesus Christ.

The Disciple Path framework uses a variety of practices to help you grow closer to Jesus. We encourage you to try all eight areas to grow deeper in your faith.

The spiral shell image for discipleship reminds us that growing as a disciple of Jesus is a continual, dynamic process. A nautilus is a sea creature that has a spiral, chambered shell. As the nautilus grows, the animal moves into bigger spiral shells. The nautilius’ spiral shell shows us that we can keep growing forever as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

ENGAGE

ENCOUNTER : Engaging our local community in fun ways helps us to get to know our neighbors and build new relationships. Having fun and enjoying our time with others is good for our health and our souls.

SHARE : Our mission is to make disciples. We make disciples by sharing our faith and proclaiming the good news to other people. We believe in relational evangelism, where we share our faith with others through the relationships we build.

GROW

COMMUNE : We cannot be Christian on our own, and we need people to support us on our faith journey. Developing authentic community with a small group of people challenges and encourages us in our faith.

LEARN : Studying and learning together brings us to deeper understandings of who God is and how God relates to the world.

SERVE

HELP : To help is to give our time and gifts back to God and the church. Serving puts our faith into action. Serving helps us build relationships and share Christ’s love with those in our church and community.

GIVE : Giving is the commitment to put God first in all things. Giving opens our hearts and hands to serve Christ and our community in new and deeper ways.
