THE LIGHT YOUTH GROUP

LEARN ABOUT HOW WE MAKE DISCIPLES OF OUR YOUTH

Harvest America

The LIGHT Youth Group

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

~John 8:12

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

~Matthew 5:16

We are called and empowered to shine the Light, Truth, and Love of Jesus into students’ lives, encouraging them to become fully devoted followers of Christ. We seek to identify who God says we are and live out God’s calling in each of our lives.

All are welcome here!

Serving students from grades 6-12, we strive to follow the example of Jesus and love as He did- showing mercy and compassion to those He met.

Each week we will dig into God’s Word, share in fellowship with one another and worship our great God. We will encourage one another as we learn more about God’s love for each of us.

Regardless of where you are on your faith journey, YOU have a place here.

Come join us! We’ll save you a seat!

Youth Service Times

Sunday School | 9:45 – 10:45 a.m.
Sunday Nights |  5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday Nights | 6:30 – 7:00 p.m.

THE LIGHT YOUTH SERVICE

Every Sunday morning between the Traditional and Contemporary services, the LIGHT youth group holds our Sunday School in the LIGHTHOUSE (youth building).

Our Sunday School classes are where we continue to strengthen our understanding of God and most importantly, our relationship with Jesus Christ. There is no need to feel like you are on the journey to discipleship on your own, come join other students who also seek spiritual guidance.

Please plan on joining us! We would love to have you!

SUNDAY NIGHT YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

Our youth group meets weekly on Sunday nights from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Event Center. Dinner starts around 5:15 p.m. and is $3 for youth members and free for first time guests!

After dinner, we stay in the Event Center and play games, sports, or other team building activities. After that we head over to the LIGHTHOUSE, our youth building, for worship, which is led by our youth director Rachel Escamilla. There will be an inspirational worship followed by a Bible-based message.  Guests are always welcome and encouraged to join!

THURSDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY

Join the LIGHT (First UMC Colleyville Youth Group) on Thursday nights! Beginning June 28, we will meet at 6:30p.m. in the youth building for summer Bible study. Our summer study will help us focus more on hearing the playlist Jesus puts on our hearts and less on the playlists of the world-anxiety, overwhelming schedules, and other distractions.

We hope you’ll join us! We’d love to have you.

This summer the youth of FUMC Colleyville will be partnering with CTCYM for our mission trip! We will be going down to South East Texas, July 15-20. We will be helping to repair homes that were damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

CHRIST IN YOUTH – MOVE CONFERENCE – HIGH SCHOOL

ciy1MOVE is a 5-day high school only event held all over the country, designed to amplify the call of Christ on students’ lives to become Kingdom workers. Located on college campuses across the nation, Move provides a program for 25,000 high school students every summer. Students are challenged through intense, interactive worship, dynamic preaching, small group study, and community building. Students at Move not only learn and worship together but also spend quality time with their church youth group, discovering ways that God will use them to be a greater help to the world.

Move is more than just another conference or camp. Move is an experience! It’s an all-inclusive event providing food, lodging, recreational activities, and an amazing program. Move doesn’t want students to leave on a spiritual “high” that dies as soon as they get home. We strive for students to go Beyond the Event by committing to become Kingdom Workers. Cards with challenges for the upcoming year are handed out on the last day of Move and students are encouraged to commit to completing those challenges, no matter how difficult they may be.

Durango, Colorado – June 25th through June 30th  – This conference is for students entering 9th grade to those graduating high school. Students will be staying at Fort Lewis College.
