We believe that each child is a member of God’s family. The Mission of Noah’s Ark Preschool is to provide a safe and loving Christian environment in which young children can explore and experience God’s love.

From birth to age 6, children develop a large part of their personality, character traits, and potential for their entire lives; thus, during these years of molding and shaping, we must be careful to make a positive influence on each child. Through our program at Noah's Ark, each child develops a positive self-concept, builds self-esteem, and learns about God’s world and our place within the world.

We provide activities and experiences that help each child learn to work and play together cooperatively, to respect the rights of others, and to seek peaceful solutions to differences.

Enrollment Requirements

Each parent/child is required to have a complete enrollment packet, which includes: a child information record, an immunization and health form, a list of special needs, getting-to-know-your-child data and other information which may be necessary to meet the needs of both the children and the Preschool.

Our Calendar and Schedule

Our year begins the last week of August and ends mid-May prior to Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District’s last day scheduled (normally before Memorial Day). The Preschool program is closed on GCISD public school holidays and vacations.

Classes meet on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  Mondays we offer Discovery Camp from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Our Curriculum

A fundamental principle of this Preschool is that play is a normal medium through which children learn.  Children learn best when engaged in learning that is relevant for the child.  If learning is relevant they are more likely to persist with a task and to be motivated to learn more. We strive to help each individual child grow spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially and intellectually. It is through this play experience that we will prepare the children socially and academically for a smooth transition into their later years of schooling. These play experiences can be encouraged through group activities, but should be mainly stimulated through new and exciting learning centers.  These centers could include paint, clay, collage, wood, construction tools, blocks, board games, puzzles, musical instruments, play dough or material to make your own, a dramatic play center or a quiet corner for books.

Developmentally appropriate curriculum for each age group is designed to build upon skills learned at the previous level.  A theme-based curriculum for the children includes learning center activities, which provide opportunities for development of both academic and social skills. The children are individually and/or group instructed, guided by our teachers in academics, learning centers, crafts, music, bible lessons, and small and large motor activities. Curriculum planning emphasizes learning as an interactive process.

Teachers prepare the environment for children to learn through exploration and interaction. In preparing a solid environment, the teachers can prepare the environment so that it provides stimulating, challenging materials and activities for the children. With this approach, we feel the children learn with the best possible foundation in which they can grow and develop skills necessary for their early educational years.  This also helps them to have good self-esteem through positive reinforcement in their learning and developing process.

Communication

Newsletters about Preschool activities are published on a regular basis. Teacher notes help keep the channels of communication open between the parents and the school. Parents are encouraged to contact the teachers or the Director at any time.

The Noah’s Ark Preschool handbook is available. Toward the beginning of the school year, a directory of staff and families who wish to participate is published.

Parent/teacher conferences are held once a year to help the parents and teachers get acquainted and to communicate and review class goals. The achievements of each individual child are evaluated on a personal level, and goals are set for the upcoming year.

Class Ratios

We feel that children benefit greatly in classes of smaller size at the developmental ages. As a result, we structure our class ratios at a level lower than any of the guidelines set forth by state or local authorities. This allows greater one-to-one supervision and personal attention.

Our Staff

Our teachers have been specially chosen for each class.  The staff attends an orientation outlining the Preschool’s guidelines, expectations and program goals. In addition, they attend in-service training and receive support on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

All staff, visitors, and volunteers are screened and criminal history checks are completed on all individuals  prior to their hiring and/or working with children.

Meet the Teacher

Each year, we begin our first day with a Meet the Teacher day. Children come for a social visit to meet the teachers and staff. Children are given the opportunity to visit their classrooms and participate in get-acquainted activities.

Security Policies

Noah’s Ark Preschool operates on an open door policy and parents* of children enrolled in the program are welcome at any time to visit and observe their children’s class. This is an added security to parents know that they are welcome at our preschool.

The faculty and staff maintain a tight three-point security system for the children. Non-parents who arrive to pick up children are carefully screened, and no child will be released until the staff are satisfied as to their safety.

*The open-door policy applies to parents only.
