Our hearts were all broken yesterday by the news of the tragic accident on I-35. There are so many people in this story who need our prayers. Feel free to use the prayer I wrote below (or offer your own prayer) and keep an eye out for opportunities to help the victims.
Gracious God, we were all shocked and horrified by the tragic 133-car crash and pile-up in Fort Worth yesterday. Our hearts go out to the families and friends of those who died as well as those who were injured. For those who are injured, we pray for healing and full recovery of not just their physical injuries but their emotional and spiritual injuries, too. For those who are grieving today, we ask for healing of their broken hearts.
We thank you for the amazing response of people on the scene, police, firefighters, and emergency workers who all worked so hard to save lives. If we can find you anywhere in this tragedy, it is in their actions. Hold them close, too, as they deal with the trauma of what they saw and what they could not do.
Where their work ends, ours begins as opportunities open up in the days ahead for us to offer financial assistance to the grieving and injured families. Help us to respond to those opportunities with compassion and generosity.
Finally, we offer you our thanks that we know every broken body, every broken heart and everyone who died are in your hands. You have them and there is nothing that can separate them from your love.
Thank you for being big enough for this and all we face in life.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Grace and Peace –
