    Advent Bible Study

Join Pastor Anne-Marie and the small group, Kaleidoscope, for a four week Advent study at FUMCC! This year, we will be walking through, “The Angels of Christmas: Hearing God’s Voice in Advent,” by Rev. Susan Rob. For four weeks, we will explore the angelic visits that surround the birth of Jesus with figures like Zechariah, Mary, Joseph, and more. In this study, we will explore the visits and dive deep into the history of the angel Gabriel–and other angels–in the Old Testament, while also learning how to listen for God’s presence and message for today. Join us as we discover the meaning and messages of the angels of Christmas for listeners then and now!

Our 4-week Bible Study will meet on Tuesday, November 28th – December 19th, from 7:00-8:15p.m. This Bible Study will be a hybrid format, which means you can participate in-person or online via Zoom. Those who meet in person will gather in Rm106 at FUMCC! Register for the Bible study HERE.

    Fall Bible Study

    Fall Bible Study

This year’s Fall Bible study is “Words of Life: Jesus and the Promise of the Ten Commandments Today,” by Rev. Adam Hamilton. Nearly everyone has heard of the Ten Commandments, the list of “thou-shalt-nots” found in the Bible. Jesus saw these commandments not as onerous burdens, but as guideposts to help us experience a good and beautiful life.  In this book of Scripture and inspiration, bestselling author Adam Hamilton brings modern eyes to the most important set of ethics in history. He considers the commandments in their historical context, considering the meaning of each commandment in Hebrew, unpacking how Jesus reinterpreted them, and showing how every thou-shalt-not was intended to point to a life-giving “thou shalt.” He also explores how the latest research in science and psychology illuminates these commandments, rightly understood, as a way of ordering one’s life beautifully in the present day. In a culture marked by workaholism, materialism, and social media-driven envy, God has given us a time-tested path that leads to gratitude, confidence, and peace.

Our 6-week Bible Study will meet on Sundays, October 1st – November 12th, from 6:00-7:15 p.m. (No bible study on 10/29 because of Trunk or Treat). This Bible Study will be a hybrid format, which means you can participate in-person or online via Zoom. Those who meet in person will gather in FL204 at FUMCC!  To sign up for Fall Bible Study, click HERE.

    Art and Faith Class–Museum Visit

Want to see a Sermon? Join the Art & Faith Sunday School class for lunch at Black Walnut followed by a trip to the Dallas Museum of Art on Sunday September 17.

Each Sunday at 10AM, the Art & Faith Sunday School class comes together and engages a great piece of art from the Christian tradition. Believe it or not, Da Vinci, Caravaggio, and Rembrandt preached but instead of using words, they used paint and canvases.

The class invites all who are connected with the church to join them on Sunday, September 17, immediately following the 11:11 Worship Service, for lunch at the Colleyville Black Walnut and a trip to the Dallas Museum of Art.

    Women’s Summer Bible Study

This year’s Women’s Summer Bible Study is “I Guess I Haven’t Learned That Yet: Discovering New Ways of Living When the Old Ones Stop Working” by Shauna Niequist. I Guess I Haven’t Learned That Yet is a journey of both unlearning what is no longer helpful, embracing curiosity, and accepting the unknowns of midlife, heartbreak, and chronic pain. New York Times bestselling author Shauna Niequist speaks with characteristic candor and grace about the challenges and delights of a move from the Midwest to Manhattan, and also releasing our expectations for how we thought our lives would look. In this four-session study, follow Shauna on her journey to understand grief, to reshape her faith, and to practice courage when all she wanted to do was hide.

Our Bible Study will meet Sunday, July 9th – July 30th from 6:00-7:30pm. This Bible Study will be a hybrid format, which means you can participate in-person or online via Zoom. Those who meet in person will gather in FL204 at the church. Register for Summer Bible Study HERE.
